Vampires: An Intensive Discussion on our Understanding

This came up in chat, and it seems many people believe vampires can be characterised as zombies, many go for the history which inspired Dracula, which was Vlad the Impaler, but there is many notable historical references. Countess Elizabeth Bathory whom bathed in blood, to other more obscure, this will go into the science, the history, the culture and our understanding of them.

Please respect others opinions and as we all know vampires don't exist at least in sense we portray them don't get to hot and bothered. Although there is shall we say real versions of vampires folklore, which is Sangarians and other groups which prose dressing like them, or going as far to drink like them.

It's of course worth mentioning, Twilight will be mentioned, and we can't avoid it. But, if it happens, please don't flame and debate cordially no matter whom is arguing.
