The MinKwon Center for Community Action (formerly YKASEC) was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community through our five program areas: Community Organizing and Advocacy, Social and Legal Services, Civic Participation, Youth Empowerment, and Culture. Since our founding, we have made a profound presence in the Korean American community through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and culture awareness. The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents.

The MinKwon Center?s comprehensive Immigrant Rights Legal Clinic provides free legal services to the Asian American community members in both the Flushing, Queens area and throughout the metropolitan New York area. The Immigrants Rights Legal Clinic seeks to protect the rights of community members by providing free legal assistance in the areas of labor, immigration, housing, and civil rights law. We provide direct legal representation and work closely with other legal groups and pro bono lawyers to help these community members achieve social and economic justice.

Internship Description

? Maintaining direct contact with Korean clients;

? Conducting intakes and screening eligibility for immigration benefits;

? Assisting clients to apply for naturalization and adjustment of status;

? Administering benefit screenings for clients and managing the client database.

Details of Internship

? Supervision: Intern is supervised by the Staff Attorney of immigration cases.

? Compensation: While internships are not paid positions, academic credit has been arranged in the past.

? Hours: Interns are expected to work full-time, 10 AM ? 6 PM, Monday through Friday.

? Duration: The internship runs from June to August 2012. Specific internship dates will be discussed in person.

Requirements

? Language proficiency in Korean and English;

? Strong organizational skills and independence, requiring minimal supervision;

? Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;

? Proficiency in Word and Excel;

? A desire to empower the Asian American community.

Asteroid dust brought to Earth reveals space smashes

It's like a cosmic version of Russian nesting dolls. Tiny dust grains collected from the surface of the asteroid Itokawa harbour even smaller particles and craters of their own - the scars of high-speed collisions with nanometre-sized impactors.

In 2010, Japan's Hayabusa probe delivered more than 1500 rocky particles from Itokawa to Earth. Studies of some of the grains last year suggested that the 500-metre-long asteroid probably began its life as a much larger rock, measuring at least 20 kilometres across. Indeed, Itokawa has a very low density, suggesting it is a rocky rubble pile that probably coalesced after its parent body was smashed in an impact.

Now researchers led by Eizo Nakamura of Okayama University in Misasa, Japan, have revealed violence on an even smaller scale. Scanning electron microscope images of five dust grains, ranging from 0.04 to 0.11 millimetres wide, show even smaller particles stuck to the grains.

These are thought to be mostly shrapnel from neighbouring grains that were struck by high-speed space dust, and occasionally bits of the extra-asteroidal impactors themselves. Some grains also show miniature craters, where nanometre-sized impactors lodged into the grains, sometimes melting their immediate surroundings.

Understanding these processes sheds light on how the space environment "weathers" asteroids' surfaces, which in turn may help researchers better estimate asteroids' ages.

Syria: the two sides of President Assad

Turnout, however, is likely to be affected by one or two small problems. The citizens of Homs, Hama, Deira, Idlib and many other towns may find it difficult to reach a polling station because their government is, to varying degrees, trying to kill them; and at least 7,000 voters will not be turning out at all, because they are dead.

The killings have dramatically changed the equation. The constitutional change, which was an early demand of the opposition movement, is now scorned by the protesters, for whom only Assad?s removal, criminal trial and execution will do. Turnout today will still, however, be interesting as a sign of who supports the regime, or can be forced to support it.

One interpretation of Assad?s reforms is that he is sincere, but myopic. The other is that it is a sop designed to give his Russian backers diplomatic cover. The cynical interpretation was bolstered when Assad?s forces launched their latest, and most savage, assault on Homs on the very eve of a UN Security Council vote to condemn the regime.

Even the fairly mild resolution before the Security Council ? pressing Assad to concede at least some unspecified powers to a deputy, pending the outcome of talks ? was vetoed by Russia. Assad appears to be betting that the international community will be unable to help his suffering people.

On that, he may well be right. Not for nothing did he tell me that his country was the Middle East?s ?fault line? and that ?meddling? in it ?would create an earthquake? another Afghanistan?. There is no doubt that that prospect looms large in the minds of Western policymakers.

In January, he boasted: ?For us, the West is important. But the West today is not like the West a decade ago. The world is changing, and new powers emerging. There are alternatives. We can swim on our own and alongside our friends and brothers, and there are plenty of them.?

Without international help, the Syrian opposition is not yet capable of succeeding on its own. The Syrian National Council, the main external opposition group, has failed to build close enough links with activists inside Syria, and is itself split. ?Assad is becoming stronger with our weakness,? said Haitham Manna, a prominent Syrian dissident based in Cairo. ?If the opposition doesn?t unify, the regime will gain strength.?

This month?s shelling of Homs is part of what appears to be a new security plan, to smash the opposition with brutality. Official newspapers have spoken of shifting away from what they claimed was the previous policy of ?restraint?.

In another sign of the regime?s cynicism, the Homs attacks were launched on the 30th anniversary of the most devastating massacre in Syria?s recent history ? the 1982 shelling and bombing of the rebellious town of Hama, flattening the old city and killing at least 10,000 people. The action, by Bashar?s father, Hafez, pretty much ended all opposition to the Assad family for the next 20 years. The regime clearly intends the parallel to be drawn.

Assad knows he still holds many of the cards. Unlike in Libya, there have been no significant defections from the armed forces or the diplomatic corps. Syrian ambassadors around the world remain loyal. Damascus is still relatively quiet, though there have been demonstrations and security force killings in the suburbs. Some towns controlled by the rebels, such as Zabadani, appear to have been retaken. Nineteen of the 22 Arab states now shun him, but he still has vital support from Lebanon, Iraq, Hezbollah ? and Iran.

Assad may hope to crush the opposition, but his forces are stretched, and have already been rebuffed from the rebel town of Idlib. Nor can Assad ?do a Hama? without the West effectively being forced to intervene.

The likelihood is that Assad?s ?earthquake? will develop, not through foreign military intervention, but of its own accord. Arab Gulf states are already providing the opposition with more weapons. And the role of Turkey, which has turned sharply against its former ally, will be crucial. A Benghazi-style enclave could still be created around Idlib, which is not far from the Turkish border. Syria may degenerate into an Arab version of Bosnia, making some sort of Western intervention inevitable.

Assad can, perhaps, be diverted from his path if the Russians, his principal supporters, can be persuaded to change sides. As in Kosovo, they could be central to a deal, but it would have to include some kind of escape route for Assad.

Interestingly, Assad has not yet been subject to a Gaddafi-style indictment from the International Criminal Court. This may be a sign that he could still be offered an escape hatch. Otherwise, Syria?s future looks dark indeed.

Border state safety secretary fired after massacre

MEXICO CITY (AP) ? The governor of a northern state where 44 inmates were massacred last week inside a prison has fired the state's public safety secretary.

Nuevo Leon Gov. Rodrigo Medina says Gen. Jaime Castaneda has been replaced by Gen. Javier del Real, who was deputy secretary.

Medina also said Friday that federal agents will help patrol around state prisons and aid with prison searches and raids whenever necessary.

Last week, 44 prisoners who belonged to the Gulf drug cartel were bludgeoned and stabbed to death by inmates from the rival Zetas cartel inside the Apodaca state prison. Authorities said the inmates were killed amid an escape by 30 members of the Zetas cartel.

Thousands of people attended a march backing Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Thursday. Russians will go to the polls on March 4.

MOSCOW -- Thousands of people marched in Moscow under Russian flags, balloons and banners on Thursday to back Vladimir Putin's bid to return to the presidency and counter opposition protests that have challenged his authority.

Putin?is running for a third term as president in an election on March 4. The 59-year-old is seen as certain to win, but is facing a strong challenge to his authority from a protest movement that has drawn large crowds to its rallies in Moscow.

The Associated Press reported that most of?Thursday's participants appeared to be workers paid by or dependent on the state, including teachers, municipal workers and employees of state companies.

Some people at the rally?told reporters?they were promised two days off in return for attending. Many?were reluctant to explain why they came, The AP reported.

"I came here with friends. They said they would pay each of us 2,000 roubles ($67)," said a 21-year-old man who gave his name only as Alexander. He and his friends were brought into Moscow by bus from just outside the city.

Putin's campaign team, which portrays him as a strong leader and guarantor of stability, has failed to quell reports that many of the people at pro-Putin rallies are paid or coerced into attending by employers and trade unions.

Wearing warm hats, scarves and coats on a chilly national holiday, the participants started marching along the banks of the Moscow River behind a long blue banner declaring: "Our vote for Putin."

The atmosphere was festive on Defender of the Fatherland Day, a holiday which honors the armed forces.

The AFP news service estimated that 30,000 people were attending the rally. However, the BBC cited Moscow police as putting the total at 130,000.

Police were out in force because the opposition communists and nationalists planned rallies in other parts of the capital.

The communists and nationalists also staged small rallies in several other cities across the vast country of more than 140 million people. There were no immediate reports of clashes.

If?Putin, a?former KGB officer, wins the election, he will extend his 12-year rule for another six years. Putin was president from 2000 until 2008, when he was barred by the constitution from running for a third successive term, but has remained dominant as prime minister.

The latest opinion poll this week showed he would win more than 50 percent of the votes on March 4, enough to avoid a second-round runoff. His rivals include nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky, communist Gennady Zyuganov and businessman Mikhail Prokhorov, who owns the New Jersey Nets.

Putin says many?people want him to return to the presidency; when he last held the office, Russians enjoyed an economic boom on the back of a surge in the price of oil, Russia's main export commodity.

The next opposition protest in Moscow is planned for Sunday.

If?Putin wins two more terms, he could stay in power until 2024. The opposition protesters say a growing number of Russians feel they have no say in the way Russia is run and that it is bad for any country to be led by one person for so long.

New moth invades Italy vineyards

A moth with a taste for Chardonnay leaves, which has infested vineyards across northern Italy, is a new species of leafminer, scientists say.

The pest was first discovered by Italian scientists in 2006, but they were unable to identify it.

Now, by examining a snippet of the moth's genetic code, researchers have confirmed that it is a previously unnamed species.

The team published their findings in the journal ZooKeys.

The Italian team enlisted the help of insect expert Erik van Nieukerken from the Netherlands Centre for Biodiversity in Leiden.

"We first turned to the [scientific] literature to find out what was already known, which was appallingly little for this group [of moths]," Dr van Nieukerken told BBC Nature.

He and his colleagues used a method known as DNA barcoding to examine a section of the insect's genetic code.

"I figured out that this one, despite being quite common in North America, had no name," he recalled.

The new species, which now bears the name Antispila oinophylla, had previously been confused with a North American species (Antispila ampelopsifoliella), which feeds on Virginia creeper.

Only the genetic studies revealed it to be a different species with a taste for grapevines. Its native range is across eastern North America, where it feeds on several species of wild grapes.

So far, the species has been found in vineyards in Italy's Trento and Veneto regions, spreading and increasing in population since it was first recorded.

Having observed the moths in the field, the scientists say that the insect seems to have a preference for the leaves of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat grapes, but they added that the economic impact of this particular pest was not yet clear.

The researchers do not know exactly how the moth arrived in Italy, but Dr van Nieukerken said that it was very easy for the cocoons containing the larvae to be accidentally transported with plant material.

"They're very small and exactly the same colour as the leaves," he told BBC Nature. "So if you were carrying plants, you would probably not notice them.

The scientist said that another species from this same group had been discovered in commercial walnut crops and that more needed to be known about the insects.

"This group is very poorly studied," he told BBC Nature.

"If you know exactly what it is and where it belongs, if you know its evolutionary history.... you can understand better how to control it."

The cost of building Great Pyramid today

Even with cranes, helicopters, tractors and trucks at our disposal, it would be tough to construct the Great Pyramid of Giza today. Its construction 4,500 years ago is so astounding in some people's eyes that they invoke mystical or even alien involvement. But the current theory of the building of the Great Pyramid ? the notion that it was assembled from the inside out, via a spiraling internal ramp ? is probably still the best construction plan.

Following that plan, we could replicate the Wonder of the Ancient World for a cool $5 billion.

First, let's look at the blueprint: The pyramid is 756 feet long on each side, 481 feet high and composed of 2.3 million stones weighing nearly 3 tons each for a total mass of 6.5 million tons. Legend has it that the structure was erected in just 20 years' time, meaning that a block had to have been moved into place about every 5 minutes of each day and night. That pace would have required the (slave) labor of thousands.

While traditional theories hold that the pyramid was built via a long external ramp, such a ramp would have had to wind around for more than a mile to be shallow enough to drag stones up, and it would have had a stone volume twice that of the pyramid itself.

A new, more economical theory gaining traction among architects and Egyptologists holds that the bottom third of the pyramid's height was constructed by stones dragged up an external ramp. But above that ? for the remaining 33 percent or so of the pyramidal volume ? the Egyptians worked their way up through the inside of the structure, building around a gently sloping internal ramp and fitting stone blocks into place as they ascended.

Furthermore, the workers could have reused the stones quarried for the external ramp to build the pyramid's upper echelons, so that nothing went to waste.

Jean-Pierre Houdin, the French architect who developed the internal ramp theory, has collaborated with a team at Dassault Systems, a 3-D graphics firm, to create a virtual model of the construction process. A team of scholars at Laval University in Quebec is now planning an infrared imaging investigation, which could soon reveal the spiraling ramp within the Great Pyramid; if found, it will be the final proof of Houdin's theory. But whether or not the theory bears out, Houdin says an inside-out construction would still be the best way to build the Great Pyramid.

"I am quite sure we could do the same today, and it would be the most economical method," Houdin told Life's Little Mysteries.

There would be two main differences between pyramid-building now and then. First, "Instead of people pulling the sleds that carry the stones up the ramps, you would use something with an engine," he said. Secondly, "for the (topmost) 10 or 15 meters, you would use a small crane."

Just as cranes are lifted onto the tops of skyscrapers today, a helicopter would apposition a crane onto a flat top of the pyramid. Stones and other construction materials dragged up to that level via the internal ramp would then be set in place by the crane. (It wouldn't be feasible to build the entire structure with cranes, Houdin said, because they wouldn't be able to reach far enough to lift materials from the base to the center of the top of the pyramid.)

While the pyramid was originally built by 4,000 workers over the course of 20 years using strength, sleds and ropes, building the pyramid today using stone-carrying vehicles, cranes and helicopters would probably take 1,500 to 2,000 workers around five years, and it would cost on the order of $5 billion, Houdin said, based on manpower and cost of constructing the Hoover Dam in Colorado during the Great Depression. The dam contains a volume of concrete roughly equal to the stone in the pyramid. By comparison, the 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center being constructed in downtown Manhattan will cost an estimated $4 billion.

There are no plans to build a full-scale Great Pyramid, but a campaign for a scaled-down model is under way. The Earth Pyramid Project, based in the United Kingdom, is raising funds to erect a pyramidal structure in an as-yet-undecided location, built of stones quarried all around the world. It will contain a time capsule, to be opened 1,000 years from now.

Funded by governments and organizations around the globe, the Earth Pyramid will not only provide a window into contemporary culture for future societies, it will also serve as an opportunity to test Houdin's construction theory of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Real Spit: Kirko Bangz has been progressing quite nicely. Even before his breakout single "Drank in My Cup" began charting on the Billboard Hot 100, the Houston upstart was laying groundwork in H-Town's mixtape scene. In 2009, he dropped the aptly titled Progression, and now, three years later, he has followed up with its sequel Progression 2: A Young Texas Playa on mixtape site Datpiff.

In this new digital era, where most rap artists occupy the same space on the Internet, it seems that where a rapper hails from has become less important. Still, Bangz clearly is looking to put on for his city.

"People were like, 'Where you from?' They thought I was from Cali, Atlanta, stuff like that. So really, with the mixtape and my last single 'Drank in My Cup,' I wanted people to know I was from H-Town," Kirko told Mixtape Daily. "It's real H-Town: We have stuff for the girls, of course, we got hip-hop stuff, we got storytelling stuff."

Progression 2 starts off with "Say Hello," an introductory freestyle over DJ Khaled and Drake's "I'm On One." It's not surprising that Kirko would jump on a track Drizzy has made famous, considering he has drawn more than a few comparisons to the Toronto rapper, thanks to his penchant for both rapping and singing. While Drake is openly inspired by Houston's screw culture, Kirko truly embodies his city's sonic characteristics on "Drank in My Cup." The slow-rolling, lean-inspired cut repurposes Houston's signature underground sound for radio; it debuted at #96 on Billboard's Hot 100 this week.

"A lot of people kinda taking our swag too. I just wanted to bring that back and take that back from them," Bangz said, never naming who the swagger jackers actually are.

On "Play Me," KB takes on Drake's "Trust Issues" and furthers the comparisons. Paul Wall reps for H-Town and shows up on "Knowmtalmbout," and on "Trill Young N---a," Kirk stakes his claim in the streets of his hometown.

For the most part Progression 2 keeps a consistent vibe with a number of soul-dripped, screw-inspired anthems. He does switch things up, however, particularly toward the end on the hilarious story-telling joint "Ugly Bitches," where he recalls all of his less than glamorous sexual conquests.

It's not flawless, but over the course of 13 tracks, Kirko Bangz shows a pretty solid progression.

US Aircraft Manufacturers Supply ASEAN's Growing Market | ASEAN ...

Last November, Boeing announced its largest ever commercial sale when it signed a deal with Indonesia?s Lion Air for 230 aircraft valued at $21.7 billion. The importance of the commercial aviation industry to the U.S. overall economy cannot be overstated. Slate reported that Boeing?s exports in 2009 made up 1.8 percent of total U.S. exports, to the tune of just under $29 billion, and the Federal Aviation Administration reported in August that, ?Civilian aircraft engines, equipment and parts also contribute $75 billion toward the U.S. trade balance.? Now, U.S. aircraft manufacturers have set their sights on Southeast Asia, where booming economies will drive growth in commercial aviation ? and demand for new aircraft ? over the next few decades.

This boom is good for the U.S. economy. The agreement with Lion Air, Indonesia?s largest private airline, will help support over 110,000 U.S. workers at Boeing and its suppliers in 43 states, according to the White House. The sale of 201 Boeing 737 Max and 29 Next Generation 737EF aircraft will particularly help Washington State?s economy, as the Boeing factory in Renton will build the 737 Max. Washington?s economy is expected to outperform the national U.S. economy in 2012 partly as a result of the 737 Max contract, according to the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, and the Seattle Times reported that Boeing added 8,000 jobs in Washington during 2011.

The demand for commercial aircraft in ASEAN countries is likely to continue on robust medium-to-long-term economic growth, resulting in increased demand for business and leisure?especially intra-regional?air travel. Bloomberg reports that Lion Air is now planning fights to China, Taiwan, and Korea after this latest deal.

Southeast Asian nations are ramping up efforts to accommodate their aviation capacity. Boeing estimates that throughout Southeast Asia, ?Twenty-seven projects to upgrade and expand airports have been completed, begun construction, or are being planned.? A recent report in the Wall Street Journal highlighted how Singapore Changi Airport includes family-friendly amenities, movie theaters, nap rooms, an amusement park, and even a bus tour of Singapore for passengers on overlay. According to the IATA 2011 Annual Report, Southeast Asian civil aviation authorities are taking other measures to attract business including reducing airline landing fees, initiatives adopted by both the Airports of Thailand Authority and Singapore Changi Airport.

Boeing?s Current Market Outlook 2011-2030 report estimates that the current fleet of 1,050 commercial aircraft in operation with Southeast Asian airlines will increase to 3,150 by 2030 to meet this growing demand, a potential market value of US$410 billion. Furthermore, Boeing predicts that, ?During the next twenty years, approximately half of the world?s air traffic growth will be driven by travel to, from, or within the Asia Pacific region. Total air traffic for the region will grow by 6.7 percent per year during this period.? This will entail greater demand for long-haul aircraft, and according to Boeing, ?Approximately 43 percent of large airplane deliveries over the next 20 years are expected to go to Asia, with China and Southeast Asia accounting for most of the delivery demand.? It is no coincidence that Boeing launched a six-month ?world tour? for its 787 Dreamliner new generation passenger plane in Beijing, China, on December 4.

Both Boeing and its European competitor Airbus?the world?s largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft?are competing for the Asia-Pacific emerging market. Boeing predicts that there is a potential global market for 33,500 new aircraft over the next twenty years, of which 11,450, or 34 percent, are destined for the Asia-Pacific. Of those, 2,750 are destined for Southeast Asia. In preparation for this increased demand the company is currently working with its suppliers in the United States to ensure that they are able to meet and maintain the inventory supply chain with increased orders.

Southeast Asia will remain a highly competitive market for both U.S. and European aircraft manufacturers for the foreseeable future. As the United States continues to deepen its economic engagement with Southeast Asia, exports of high-value and high-quality manufactured goods, such as commercial aircraft, are key components of this economic strategy. Singapore Airlines? decision in August to buy an additional eight Boeing 777-300ER aircraft worth $2.4 billion, in addition to the 85 Boeing 777s that it has already purchased, reminds all why Southeast Asia is an important market for the U.S. commercial aircraft industry and its related suppliers.

She cheated cuz I have an addiction...thoughts?

Ok, Ill try to be specific. Been married 2.5 years, dated for several before that. Generally had a good relationship this whole time, very much in love etc...Now, for the past ten years or so I've had a drug habit. I've struggled with weed, off and on, or sometimes more, sometimes less, for the past ten years. Im a smart enough guy, I get good greats, I play high-level soccer etc, but I have struggled to eliminate weed from my life. To that end, about a year ago I started getting into weed again on a more consistent basis. Over a three month period or so it developed into an unhealthy habit/addiction. In the process
over that 3 month period my wife and I started getting a bit distant. I would be out often with friends, smoking etc. and we began spending less time together (honey-moon phase over?) and growing a bit distant. She started feeling distant to me at least. Or I should say, felt I wasnt around as much as i should for her, wasnt pulling my weight in the marriage, both emotionally, and house chores etc...

Now at some point over that same 3 month period she began a new job and started a friendship with her co-worker(where she volunteered at and hopefully would eventually get a job at). He has so much in common with her. They both are extremely passionate about their work and work-related things (teaching, fitness etc). At some point during the initial 3 month phase she admitted to me that she was having an innappropriate relationship with this guy. It started out just that they got along very well,
was easy to talk to (from both ends, he to her, her to he) etc, but that it quickly developed into her sharing how she felt and opening up to him etc., things she normally would be sharing with her husband. They started getting closer in other words. That had started that but she admitted this to me then, knew it was wrong, said she didnt want to continue it anymore, said it was over etc., that they would only be strictly professional. I accepted it, gave her the benefit of the doubt, and felt that I could believe her when she said it was over. The only reason it happened she said then was because we were less close lately, which in turn was essentially my fault, due to smoking too much weed. So I guess I have my share of the blame.

Fast forward 9 months from then to today. I've still been struggling with my weed addiction. It goes up or down, but its been there. And our relationship hasn't been great over this past year. When she first told me about that guy, at the time we first started growing distant, I had tried to rein in the collateral damage of my habit. That is, I learned that weed can make me complacent, lazy etc, and so even if I havent conquered my addiction, I tried to conciously be a better husband nonetheless. I would make myself emotionally available as much as possible, listen to her, be there for her etc, or would try to pull my weight more around the house. Yes, it wasn't perfect, there was still shortcomings for sure, but I can honestly say it was better than the first 3 month period.

Now the past 2 months have been quite rocky. In terms of my weed, she had laid down the hammer, giving me an ultimatum about a month ago that if I didnt check into rehad kind of thing that she was going to seperate. She didn't want to enable me anymore etc, which I felt was fair. I felt like utter **** for this. I felt/feel extremely bad about how I'd become. Over the past 6 months she had begun to be more open with how she was being affected by my addicition, that she felt very hurt, distant, that I havent been a good husband etc. My response would be shame, guilt, a thousand sorrys and I love yous. I would try to rein it in, or be a better man for her, sometimes to great effect, sometimes to mediocre effect. Lord knows I am not perfect. But anyways, the past six months have been like that, with the past two being "hammer being laid down." She stopped sleeping with me altogether, and generally was emotionally dead to me, unresponsive to me, even if I tried everything to love her. If I would try to be nice, or loving etc, these past two months she's been cold, essentially. Meanwhile I started a NA program, during which it requires full honesty and accountability to your loved ones re: the damage you've caused. I started going through the steps these past 2 months, of admitting my mistakes, admitting I have a problem, aplogizing repeatedly for the hurt I caused, all the while receiving minimal response from my wife "cuz she has been so hurt" or "we are so distant" etc. To my mind I could accept this, and felt it was only part of the healing process. I had hurt her, she had the right to express her pain and remain distant until she could trust me again.

This week, by accident, I found out that her and co-worker made out, for quite awhile apparently, not just a kiss, one night two months ago when they were along together at his place. She admitted it to me, reluctently, but full of guilt. We were both crying alot etc...As I asked more questions and she became more forthright with me, it turns out that they had retained their friendship/relationship all along, or recontinued it after a short respite following the first time she admitted it to me. They would hang out at his place, go out to pubs together, go for coffee or walks together etc. Physically, they made out the one time, and also on various occassions have held hands, hug and cuddled, held each other close etc. Emotionally, she said their relationship is "complicated" since they "care about eachother alot" and developed "feelings for eachothers". They have shared this with eachother, know that they have feelings for eachother etc. She said this only really picked up in the last three months, but I know for a fact that she has remained friends with him from the get-go.

I feel hurt, very hurt. We were always extremely faithful to eachother and always spoke about how that's the last thing we'd ever do. I was serious about that. Not to come across as arrogant, but I'm a smart dude, good looks, and barring a weed addiction I'm trying to conquer, have my **** together. I'll be going to a top law school next year and dont find it difficult to talk to girls. And girls enjoy my company. Point is, there was lots of opportunity to cheat but I never would. I dont so much as even speak to girls, besides my sisters or old friends. If there is a situation where I feel a girl may be into me or me into her, I leave. I have my faults but I would never cheat, never wanted to, never wanted to be that guy. I swore to myself I would never, no matter what, cheat. That was the cardinal rule. And she's shared the same, and we've both agree how vital that is and how we'd leave eachother, how our awesome relationship would be broken, if that ever happened.

A few days have passed and we've talked. From her perspective she feels like crap about what happened. She says she cant believe she did that, that it was wrong etc etc...She also says the only reason it happened was because of the weed, that it was because we were distant for the past year. I can accept that to a degree. I am no angel and I know the weed has been a problem and that I've hurt her and that I need to change. I know that and accept that. But does that make her relationship ok? Obviously not, but does it justify it? Or excuse it? Or put another way, are we both equally wrong here? Or is it different, what we did? The way she puts it, she says its like I've been cheating on her with weed for the past year, that I choose weed over being there for her, and because of that, she started seeking fulfillment elsewhere. I can accept that, but then I also think about and wonder, that during the past year there has been lots of times that I've tried to be there for her, supported her, made nice evenings out with her, cuddled her, listened etc, only to recieve the cold shoulder. Or I think of the past two months since she has laid down the hammer, threatening to leave and withholding all physical and emotional intimacy until I get better. I've felt like crap and blamed myself for all that was wrong in our relationship, but I cant help but think alot of that was also because she had been carrying on this relationship with that guy. I mean, how did we even have a change at repairing our relationship when she had been carrying this one behind my back the whole time? And to what extent is it not her fault that this past year we had been distant? How could we not when she was getting fullfilment elsewhere?

I dont know what to do. She wants to get MCing and work this through. I do too but I cant help feel something is broken. I know she didnt sleep with him, but they did enough physically, and even more than enough emotionally, and for awhile. She's also been lying about it this whole time, and especially these past two months since the time they made out, she'd dramatically increased the distance and blame. I cant help feel angry about it. Here we are trying to fix our relationship via me fixing my addiction, a process which requires full honesty and responsibility by all parties involved, and she's carrying on this relationship? All the while increasing the blame for the fact that we are distant? All the while rejecting my attempts at intimacy, love, support, apology etc on the pretext that we are too broken and its my fault?

She wants to get MCing, move one, let by-gones be by-gones etc, and restart our marriage. We both ****ed up sort of deal, we deal with it and start afresh. I should add her tone changed the second I found out about it. The day I found out she was all "sorry, sorry, we both messed up, lets get MC and move past this etc," whereas the very day before, even a couple hours before I found out, she was talking about contemplating leaving me, talking about how she spoke with friends who had marriage problems, one stuck it out and is now happy, the other left and never has been happy, and that she doesnt know what she should do. This kind of talk had been going on for the past couple months before I found out. So she had been laying it all on me, had been threatening leaving, and the moment I find out everything changes? Now she just wants to work it out and move on? She says it was all a mistake and only happened because we developed problems. On a side note, she continues and continued to see that guy after they made out, but on a strictly professional level she says. Furthermore, she is about to start a job working under his authority. So she will see him everyday. This burns me inside so much. I feel like a jackass. This guy makes out and has an emotional relatioship with my wife, and now she is about to accept a job working with him?? She says she would be willing to change jobs etc but shes been trying to get this job literally for a year and only got it because of those connections. And I know how meaningful this work is to her. She'd spent the last 7 years in school, volunteering etc to get it. But now she'll be doing this work along-side this guy. I can't stand the thought of it, but I also can't stand the thought of asking her to not do the work she absolutely loves.

I dont know what to do. I know she didnt sleep with him, but this past year he's basically been her emotional partner, and I've been the guy who is to blame for becoming distant. I know I have my faults, and I know the weed thing is a problem which Im sincerely trying to fix, but I would never ever cheat on her. She says its essentailly like Ive been cheating on her with weed, but really? Is that the same? Yes I've been a ****ty husband at times, but I never ever tried to hurt her, even though I did, and I never went out to be with another woman, even during the times where we were emotionally and physically distant.

What do you guys think? We both equally at fault? Is it essentially the same what we did? Should I/Can I ever trust her again? Any thoughts or experiences or whatever would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty lost here...
